Our Story

Roofing Basingstoke Since 2003

We started as a two-man team working on Basingstoke's 1960s estate housing — the bread-and-butter roofing that most of this town needs. Over two decades, we have grown into a full-service roofing company covering everything from emergency storm repairs to complete re-roofs, flat roofing, guttering and chimney work.

What hasn't changed is our approach. We quote honestly, turn up when we say we will, and leave every job clean and finished. We don't do temporary patches that buy you six months. We do permanent repairs that last decades.

Why Basingstoke?

Because we live here. We know that the Popley estates were roofed with Redland 49s. We know that Brighton Hill's southern exposure makes ridge tiles the first casualty in a storm. We know that Old Basing's conservation area needs clay tile matching, not concrete substitutes. This knowledge comes from twenty years of working on these specific roofs — it cannot be replicated by a national company sending subcontractors from fifty miles away.

Our Credentials

NFRC registered. £5m public liability insurance. Written 10-year workmanship guarantee on all roofing work. We are the roofers Basingstoke homeowners trust — and we plan to keep it that way.

How We Work

Every job begins with a free inspection. We look at the whole roof, not just the area you have asked about, because problems rarely occur in isolation and finding a developing issue early saves you money. We photograph what we find and show you before quoting, so you can see the problem rather than take our word for it.

Quotes are written, itemised and fixed. Materials are named by manufacturer. Scaffold, disposal and guarantee are included in the figure rather than added later. If we find something unexpected once work starts we stop, show you, and agree the cost before continuing. You will never receive an invoice larger than the quote without having approved the difference first.

Our Standards

We use stainless steel or aluminium fixings, never iron. We use code 4 lead minimum for flashings, never mastic as a permanent solution. We fit dry ridge as standard on re-roofs rather than mortar that will fail within twenty years. We replace battens and membrane on every full re-roof rather than reusing sixty-year-old timber. These choices cost more and are the reason our work lasts.

We clean up every day. Gardens, driveways and paths are protected before work starts and cleared before we leave each evening. Nails and debris are collected with a magnet sweep. The site you come home to should look like a site where careful people are working.

Guarantees and Insurance

All roofing work carries a written 10-year workmanship guarantee, transferable to a new owner if you sell. We carry £5m public liability insurance and are registered with the National Federation of Roofing Contractors. Certificates are available on request — and you should ask any roofer for them before work begins.

Why We Only Cover Basingstoke

Genuine local knowledge does not scale. Knowing that Popley Phase 1 is system-built while Marnel Park is not, that Brighton Hill loses ridge tiles every winter because of the M3 corridor, that Old Basing needs lime mortar and reclaimed clay — that knowledge comes from working the same streets for twenty years. A contractor covering three counties cannot have it, and their customers pay for that gap in slower diagnosis and wrong materials.

Contact Us

Call 0125 624 2410 to speak to a roofer directly — not a call centre and not an answering service. We answer during working hours and divert to an on-call number outside them for emergencies. If we are on a roof when you call, leave a message and we will ring back the same day.

For non-urgent enquiries you can also email us and we will respond within one working day. For emergencies, always call — email is not monitored overnight and a roof leak does not wait.

Where We Work

We cover every neighbourhood in Basingstoke — Popley, Winklebury, Brighton Hill, Chineham, Kempshott, Hatch Warren, Old Basing, South Ham, Oakridge, Buckskin, Beggarwood, Lychpit and Black Dam — plus the surrounding towns and villages of Tadley, Whitchurch, Overton, Kingsclere and Oakley. Rates are identical across the whole coverage area with no travel surcharges.

What We Will Not Do

We do not cold-call, knock on doors, or approach homeowners who have not contacted us. Every legitimate roofing business in Basingstoke has enough work from referrals and enquiries without resorting to doorstep selling. If someone knocks claiming to have spotted a problem with your roof, it is not us and we would advise treating it with considerable caution.

We do not sell roof coatings, tile sealants or any of the treatments marketed as extending roof life by decades. These are generally overpriced paint that addresses none of the structural issues that actually determine how long a roof lasts. We do not quote work that is not needed, and if your roof is sound we will tell you so.

How We Handle Disagreements

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, tell us immediately. We will come back, look at it with you, and put right anything that falls short. We would far rather resolve a problem directly than have a dissatisfied customer, and we have never refused to return to a job where a customer had a genuine concern.

Where a disagreement cannot be resolved between us, our NFRC membership provides access to an independent dispute resolution process. That safeguard exists precisely because roofing work is hard for customers to assess, and we think that protection is right.

Training and Development

Roofing standards change. BS 5534 was substantially revised in 2014 with significantly increased fixing requirements. Dry fix systems have a dedicated standard in BS 8612. Building Regulations requirements for ventilation and insulation have tightened repeatedly. We keep current with these changes because specifying to a superseded standard is both a compliance risk and a quality failure.
