Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

Basingstoke Roofing Experts ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to roofersbasingstoke.co.uk. This policy explains how we collect, use and safeguard your information.

Information We Collect

When you contact us by phone or email, we collect your name, contact details and details of your enquiry. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and provide our roofing services.

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to: respond to enquiries, provide quotes, schedule and deliver roofing work, and communicate about your project. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

This website uses essential cookies to ensure basic functionality. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at info@roofersbasingstoke.co.uk or call 0125 624 2410 to exercise these rights.

Data Retention

We keep enquiry and job records for six years, which is the period required for warranty claims, tax records and professional indemnity purposes. After that period, personal data is securely deleted. Records relating to completed work — including photographs, specifications and guarantee documentation — are retained for the duration of the guarantee period plus one year.

Third Parties

We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share limited information with suppliers where necessary to fulfil your job — for example, providing a delivery address to a materials merchant, or providing property details to a scaffold contractor. These parties process data only for that specific purpose and under contractual confidentiality obligations.

Security

Enquiry data is stored on secure systems with access limited to staff who need it for their work. We do not store payment card details at any point. Where documents contain personal information, physical copies are stored securely and destroyed by cross-cut shredding when no longer required.

Your Rights Under GDPR

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request deletion where we have no ongoing legal reason to retain it, to restrict processing, and to object to processing. Requests are actioned within one calendar month at no charge. Contact us using the details below to exercise any of these rights.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, contact us first and we will investigate and respond. If you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Contact Us

Call 0125 624 2410 to speak to a roofer directly — not a call centre and not an answering service. We answer during working hours and divert to an on-call number outside them for emergencies. If we are on a roof when you call, leave a message and we will ring back the same day.

For non-urgent enquiries you can also email us and we will respond within one working day. For emergencies, always call — email is not monitored overnight and a roof leak does not wait.

Where We Work

We cover every neighbourhood in Basingstoke — Popley, Winklebury, Brighton Hill, Chineham, Kempshott, Hatch Warren, Old Basing, South Ham, Oakridge, Buckskin, Beggarwood, Lychpit and Black Dam — plus the surrounding towns and villages of Tadley, Whitchurch, Overton, Kingsclere and Oakley. Rates are identical across the whole coverage area with no travel surcharges.

Lawful Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under two lawful bases. Where you contact us for a quote or to book work, processing is necessary for the performance of a contract or to take steps prior to entering one. Where we retain records after completion, processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in defending potential warranty claims and complying with tax and insurance obligations.

We do not rely on consent for marketing because we do not conduct marketing to past customers beyond responding to enquiries you initiate. If we ever introduce a mailing list it will be strictly opt-in with a clear unsubscribe mechanism in every message.

Cookies in Detail

This website sets no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics cookies. The only data your browser exchanges with our server is the request for the page itself. Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request — this is standard for the majority of UK websites and is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

Children's Data

Our services are directed at property owners and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We review this policy annually and whenever our data practices change. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how we use existing customer data would be communicated directly to affected individuals rather than by silent update.

Related Reading

Roofing decisions rarely exist in isolation. A question about repair costs usually leads to a question about whether replacement makes more sense, which leads to material choices, which leads to what a good quote should contain. Our other guides cover each of these in the same detail as this one.

If you are working through a specific decision and want to talk it through rather than read about it, call 0125 624 2410. There is no charge for advice and no expectation that you will book anything. We would rather you made a well-informed decision — even if that decision is to use someone else — than an uninformed one.

How This Applies to Your Property

General guidance takes you only so far. The right answer for a 1960s system-built terrace in Popley is different from the right answer for a Victorian cottage in Old Basing or a 2000s detached in Beggarwood. Housing era, roof structure, exposure and existing condition all shape what is appropriate.

A free inspection resolves this in under an hour. We look at your actual roof, tell you what we find, and give you a written assessment you can act on or file for reference. No obligation either way.
